Mothers for Mothers Project: Telephone System Investigation

 Project:

Preliminary investigation into the telephone system: what data can be automatically collected, which provider might be the most cost effective.

Project description:
Mothers for Mothers have a single helpline with no queueing system.  When it is busy callers can leave a message, but few do, given that it is likely to have taken some courage to call.  So, Mothers for Mothers don’t know how many calls are not answered, nor do they collect any data, though they could collect data manually about answered calls. In addition, there is a support call service: regular calls out at the same time every week. On some days the support calls are made by the person manning the helpline on the same number.

It would be helpful to know what data could be automatically collected, using a system such as BT’s Call Tracker, and determine how useful that might be. It will also be useful to investigate whether a change of provider would be beneficial.

If it is determined that a suitable data collection system could be developed, a second project, when data has been available for a suitable period of time, could consider questions such as whether they need a second line.

Time commitment3 days, for this preliminary investigation

Location: The work can be done remotely, requiring an understanding of the existing system, determining what data can be automatically collected, and recommending which provider might be most cost effective.
